What is a Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND)?
A Traditional Neighborhood Development combines the best community planning practices of past and present. The New Urbanism movement rediscovered and applied the design principles and techniques of Traditional Neighborhood Developments (TNDs) by integrating the best of early 20th century neighborhood design with modern amenities and conveniences. Nearly 400 TNDs are under construction across the country today.
Traditional Neighborhood Developments

What TND benefits will Village Gardens offer?
Village Gardens will offer beauty, comfort, and ease of living in a people-friendly environment. Village greens, not parking lots, will welcome you into the neighborhood, and porches, not garages, will invite you into homes.
The primary values that will guide the development of Village Gardens are a respect for the natural environment and a dedication to beauty. Reflecting the traditional values and characteristics of classic Lincoln, Village Gardens will create a distinct and desirable neighborhood.
Wider sidewalks, an abundance of green spaces, bike trails connected to the Lincoln trails network, and frequently-used services within a short walk from home, will promote personal relationships and a sense of community.
